GENERAL PURPOSE:

Jefferson Township is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer. The Code Enforcement Officer performs a variety of routine and complex work in the interpretation and enforcement of adopted codes and related rules and regulations adopted by Township Trustees and that appear in the Jefferson Township Zoning Code and other Regulatory Codes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES:
  1. Performs duties necessary to enforce the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code, Zoning Resolution, Exterior Property Maintenance Code, and other applicable codes, regulations and resolutions adopted by the Township Trustees and placed within the scope of authority of the Code Enforcement
  2. Performs field inspections of approved permits and/or certificates to ensure compliance with submitted plans and provision of other applicable codes/regulations and resolutions
  3. Must have the Ability to handle Nuisance Abatement and the Management of all Cleanup efforts for each Abatement Case coordinating all resources to perform the
  4. Receives complaints filed with the Township regarding alleged violations of any regulation within the inspector’s scope of authority, investigates, and determines validity of complaints, taking appropriate action as per departmental policy (progressive enforcement). This may include giving verbal orders, issuing notice of violations and citations, and the filing of civil criminal complaint affidavits.
  1. Maintains records of inspections, daily logs, complaint forms and other record keeping as may be assigned within the scope of the authority of this
  2. Required to perform specific levels of research on various topics, providing answers to questions relative to departmental and non-departmental matters, within an achieve level of
  3. May be required to review and issue specific levels of permits and/or
  4. Serve as the Field Technician for the Township Stormwater Management Program to Identify, monitor, and report any storm water, ground water or soil erosion to the MS4 Permit
  5. Required to Develop a Code Enforcement Program for the Township
  6. Develop a Code Enforcement Operations Manual for the Township
  7. Assist in the future Development of a Property Maintenance Code
